Weather concerns prompt Putrajaya ePrix reschedule

The start time for November’s Putrajaya ePrix has been moved forward after a review of the local medium and long-term weather forecasts.

Malaysia’s climate is notoriously humid and unpredictable, and the northeast monsoon season’s torrential rainfall threatens to whip across the tropical country over the course of the ePrix weekend.

The decision to bring the race’s start time forward from 16:00 MST to 14:00 MST was taken to avoid the heavy rainfall likely to strike the Malaysian city towards the evening.

The ePrix’s scheduled date of November 22, however, remains unchanged.

Although the grid will be equipped with Michelin’s control all-weather tyres, race organisers altered the race day schedule to allow themselves more flexibility to react in case of disruptive severe weather.

Similar timetable changes have also been applied to the day’s practice and qualifying sessions, with all of the day’s track outings now starting two hours earlier than originally scheduled.
