Nicolas Prost has been handed a 10-place grid penalty following his dramatic collision with Venturi’s Nick Heidfeld at the Beijing ePrix, which saw the German ex-Formula One ace catapulted into the tyre barriers.
Prost, who had led most of the Chinese series opener in his e.dams Spark-Renault SRT_01E, initially denied that he was at fault in the incident, claiming that Heidfeld had entered the corner irresponsibly fast.
However, he has since been penalised by the FIA for “causing an accident” as the two race leaders wrangled for the race victory.
Prost later took to Twitter to apologise for causing the accident, writing: “I feel very bad about the incident and after looking at the videos I understand that I am responsible.”
