Mahindra Racing and the British racing team Carlin have today announced a technical partnership for the upcoming Formula E season.
The British Formula F3 and Formula Renault 3.5 champions, who are also front runners in GP2, will provide technical and engineering support to the Indian-backed squad both in the Mahindra Racing headquarters and trackside.
Having already arguably mastered conventional single-seater racing, the all-electric formula will no doubt provide Carlin with new and stimulating challenges. Trevor Carlin, the team owner, said: “The FIA have been clear in their support of Formula E and it is obvious that electric powertrains and sustainability will play a big part in the future of motorsport. We are very excited to be involved in such a ground breaking series as Formula E from the very start.”
Dilbagh Gill, Mahindra Racing Team Principal, was similarly delighted: “We were very keen to work with a team that had race and championship winning experience at a high level but also had the ability to manage and work with non-F1 budgets. Carlin are extremely well respected and together with our expertise in powertrains and electric vehicles, we make a good team.”
