Ex-F1 driver Scott Speed, who raced for Scuderia Torro Rosso in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, will drive Andretti Autosport’s Spark-Renault SRT_01E at this week’s Donington Park test alongside series ambassador Gil de Ferran.
The American squad, owned by Michael Andretti, has so far only announced its IndyCar pilot Franck Montagny as a racing driver for the upcoming Formula E season.
The Andretti Autosport Formula E team looks set to have a rich F1 heritage, with the team owner, test drivers and only announced racing driver having all competed in the world’s premiere racing category.
Scott Speed, who currently drives for Andretti’s RallyCross programme in a works Volkswagen, is excited to drive for the sister Andretti Formula E team, saying: “The Andretti organisation has been an amazing company to drive for, and I’m happy to grow my role as one of its drivers while helping out with the Formula E test.”
The Formula E test at Donington Park will take place this Thursday and Friday.
