Spanish-born IndyCar racer Oriol Servià is to compete for Dragon Racing in Formula E’s inaugural season, after Mike Conway’s late-notice withdrawal from the series.
Oriol Servià, son of Spanish rally champion Salvador Servià, had earlier tested for Dragon Racing at Donington Park and will now line up alongside ex-Formula One ace Jerome d’Ambrosio on Beijing’s streets.
Servià comes from a background of IndyCar, Champ Car and Formula 3 racing, and brings with him extensive single-seater experience that will no doubt prove invaluable to the team.
Conway, on the other hand, can no longer offer his services to Dragon Racing due to commitments to Toyota’s LMP1 programme in sports prototypes racing.
“It’s a shame I can no longer participate but as I couldn’t commit to the whole championship, we both felt it best to focus my attention on my sportscar programme”, the British-born racer explained.
“I’m looking forward to watching the new series unfold and hope Servià and d’Ambrosio bring home some podiums for the team.”
The Formula E season kicks off next week on September 13th – of course, Formula Future will keep you updated with all the latest developments.
